At its essence, Fraud is theft by deception. Often it is an abuse (or use) of a relationship.
Fraud is not limited to any particular jurisdiction and can occur in commercial, industrial, insurance, family and personal contexts. Generally the “harm” is all the more painful because it is perpetrated by someone who is known to or in relationship with the “innocent” party. The betrayal is therefore all the more hurtful and damaging.
