Specialist Accreditation is a scheme operated by the Law Society of NSW and other state Law Societies to help people identify solicitors who have demonstrated specialist skills in their distinct practice areas.
To obtain the title of ‘Accredited Specialist’ the solicitor must have:
- A minimum of 5 years full-time post qualification experience and a minimum of 3 years of practice in that field of law; and
- Have passed all the challenging assessments set by the Law Society of NSW comprising of examinations, interviews, written and verbal assessments over a course of months.
Specialist Accreditation is not given lightly, the process is highly competitive and challenging. Only a small percentage of lawyers in NSW hold the title of ‘Accredited Specialist’ in their main practice area. Specialist Accreditation is only awarded to individuals, not firms and can be identified by the relevant logo
Accredited Specialists must complete double the amount of continuing legal professional development (CPD) points to renew their practicing certificates each year, so you can be assured that the advice you receive is relevant and up to date.
Streeterlaw have Accredited Specialists in the areas of Commercial Law, Family Law and Dispute Resolution. If you wish to talk to one, call us on 02 8197 0105.
